About Me
20 years ago, while touring on my bike, with my dog Rosco in tow, the Colorado Rockies adopted me — and not in a way I was expecting at the time.
From the sky came a monster snowstorm that put an end to my plans and unveiled a wonderful path of magical uncertainty. It snowed and it snowed, stranding me in a town where I knew no one — and where I quickly went broke and homeless. But from this new community emanated kindness, generosity — and bikes! Bikes ruled there as much as they ruled my life. I began to feel rich, connected and whole in this new place.
By the time summer came and the snow melted away, I didn’t want to leave. And I’ve stayed in Colorado ever since.
I’m originally from Hidalgo, Mexico, but Colorado instantly felt like home. And now, after two decades in Colorado — commuting 365 days a year, wrenching on bikes, bikepacking and racing all over the state — I’m proud to finally open Leadvelo Bicicasa… my bike home!
I want this shop to enhance the connection between people and their bicycles, to honor the place of bicycle riding in our community and to celebrate the natural world through human-powered transportation and exploration.
Old Rosco is now buried high up on the Sangre de Cristo mountains. But a new cycle of kindness and generosity has ignited at 10,200’ and I feel honored to have the opportunity to share my passion and expertise with my new community:
Leadville Colorado!!!
